Further Turkish Earthquake Research

Link obtained from Turkish Embassy in Dublin I hope to expand on in future development of final section hypothesis. This is an archived site of resources from 1999 Izmit earthquake, one particularly interesting one here, a link to a conference paper entitled In the Wake of the Turkish Earthquake: Turkish Internet by A. Nur Zincir-Heywood of Ege University and Malcolm I. Heywood of Dokuz Eylul University.

This paper relates the facilities of the Internet in general and its usage in the developing countries, with particular application to the Turkish 1999 earthquake. The authors believe that increasing and supporting the usage of the Internet in developing countries like Turkey will improve cooperation, knowledge sharing and participation when natural disasters such as earthquakes occur.

Virtual Revolution – BBC2

The Virtual Revolution, a four-part documentary series about the history of the internet to the present day has aired on BBC2 during this research process. It has been presented several of the themes that run through my own study, and similarly has introduced me to other relevant lines of research. The 3D documentary application has proved a valuable reference point during this time also.
